Pecan Chest

In a search for a place to keep my 3 x 5 note cards I developed this box. It works well enough, but I can imagine some improvements. Pecan is a really interesting wood. Hickory trees that bear the nuts, and pecan trees are included in the grading standard, the harvested wood looks the same, The lumber for this box was the left over material of several retail store interiors. The pieces are all 3/8" thick, laminated to make a much larger block, then bandsawn, machined, polished and hinged.
